Please sign the petition to ban pro-ana/mia communities. We only want the communities that give out tips and tricks on how to starve yourself and purge to be banned. Communities for REAL support and RECOVERY will not be banned.

You can sign the petition and read more about it here (there also is an FAQ for the petition in i_lacemychucks journal).

Thank you and please spread the word about this.

I heard on the radio yesterday that when Madonna's kids don't pick their clothes & toys up off the floor, Madonna takes those clothes & toys off the kids and the kids have to EARN them back.

I like it.
What do you think?

Hi, I'm 25 with a nearly 4 year old girl, and a 27 year old baby (otherwise known as my hubby ;) ).

I was hoping by joining this site I might find some parents in similar situations because I've joined a few playgroups in the past and not felt at home because everyone was so different from where I am in my life. I love talking to parents of all descriptions, but it would be nice to find others who married young, then had kids. I know all parents have stuff in common, but I know from a few single friends, that single parents and coupled parents face issues that are different sometimes, and same with younger parents and older parents. so to all the young people who are in serious relationships and have children, i'd love to talk to you all about issues that effect us as different from older parents and/or single parents.

but i'd still love to talk to people who are in different situations too because the only way to grow in life is to absorb new and different information amd situations ;) .

anyways, the only other thing i'd like to say other than hi, is if anyone knows any CHEAP or free places to sell baby things, particularly clothes, I'd love to know. ebay fees are too expensive, market stalls cost too much (there is apparently going to be a few baby markets in brisbane soon, but the stall fee alone wsa $35!!!).

or if anyone is interested - i have a heap of clothes sze 0000 up to 4, the newborn stuff is more boys than girls (and i'm not selling all of it straight away until i find out whether my sis-in-law is having a boy or girl, but some is for sale now), and the stuff from size 2-4 is mainly girls. I bought boy stuff because i thought we were having a boy, and we ended up having a girl.

so if you want to buy any, or even just know good places to sell baby clothes, either online or as close to north brisbane as possible, i'd be grateful.

can't wait to meet more of yous...

Hey everyone, my name is Emma and I’ll be your community moderator this evening!

For those who don’t know me, I’m 23 years old and pregnant with my first child, who is due on the 15th of May, 2006. I’ve been married since May 2004 to a wonderful guy, and we’re kinda nervous about this parenting thing at the moment (well, we’ve never done it before!). We’ve both worked in child care before, but I have a feeling that nothing will prepare us for what we’re about to experience in about seven months!

I created this community so that Australian parents, step-parents, grandparents and guardians would have somewhere to discuss all things child-related. Feel free to contribute to the conversation anytime – as soon as you become a member you can post! You can join instantly by clicking here.

Some things you could use this community for include:

  • Ask questions about parenting, pregnancy etc (No question is a silly one here!)
  • Share your own interesting stories about being a parent
  • Give advice to expectant parents
  • Recommend a great child or baby-related product or website that you think other parents would be interested in

…a good start is to introduce yourself!

Please refer to our Community Profile for the rules regarding this community. These rules are very important!

Ok then, I think I’ve gabbled on enough. Have fun, enjoy this community and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask me!
